This is the title of a course I am teaching tomorrow night at Gilda’s Club in Westchester.  In my 10+ years of teaching cooking classes, the majority of my students have been women and kids. I’m thrilled for the opportunity to work with some guys. It’s given my an excuse to do some research on what is out there in the realm of food info for men.

Hubby reads both Men’s Journal and Men’s Health. Both magazines come to our house free of charge because somehow the publishers of these and many other magazines still think I am a practicing dentist.  As a result, more free mags than you could ever imagine show up at the Rubin Rodeo month after month.

The February Issue of Men’s Journal had a nice piece entitled, Everything You Know About Nutrition is Wrong. This article, featuring the work of Gary Taubes, author of Why We Get Fat And What To Do About It.  Wow, did I hit paydirt! This article had many “food rules” that I totally agree with.

Here are a few of my faves. We’ll be discussing these in depth in my class.

1. Don’t go on a diet- change your diet

2. Don’t count calories

3. Eat meat from farms, not factories

4. Eat leafy green  and brightly colored veggies at every meal

5. Be mindful of mindless eating.

I’ll post the recipes from the class tomorrow.
