Dear Mrs. C,

Over the years you’ve lived in Chappaqua, we haven’t had a chance to speak. I’ve chatted numerous times with your husband, Bill about school food and the farm bill. My focus on public health has moved from school cafeterias and onto even more pressing problems.

Redpill

I took the red pill. I can’t go back to sleep.

Since 2009, I’ve been learning about extreme energy: deep water drilling, tar sands, nuclear power and fracking. I spent a couple of summers in a camp kitchen in Bradford County PA so my kid could attend theater camp in the beautiful Endless Mountains of PA.That fall, I returned to Chappaqua as a full fledged fracktivist because of what I witnessed there. In 2011, I was one of the 1253 citizens arrested in front of the White House for the KeystoneXL pipeline and  I also joined up with Vice President Al Gore’s Climate Reality Leadership Corps to help turn up the conversation about climate change chaos. I guess you could say I’ve been doing my own research!

Once you know about the perils of extreme energy, its hard to go back to sleep. So instead, I’ve been working hard to wake up others and started co-creating short films on these topics. The Plan(?) was a dark comedy of sorts about nuclear evacuation. Then we learned about Spectra Energy’s AIM gas pipeline project and we made A Risky Business.

These potential catastrophes are so close to home, both your home and mine. I really would like to see you take a stand one way or another about the combination of an aging nuclear plant with the new jumbo explosive gas pipeline. What is your position on this situation?

When we were making The Plan(?) Ralph Nader suggested that we hold a vigil on your street about the unsafe Indian Point nuke plant. At the time, I felt that would be impolite. But now that the NY primary is just days away, I think it is very important that you let NY voters know where you stand on this tantalizing terrorist target just 11 miles away from downtown Chappaqua.

Monday night, on April 11th, I will be helping to facilitate a peaceful and polite candlelight vigil in the center of our town. Its not a Bernie rally, its an event for all concerned citizens who care about health, safety and a livable climate.  These are non-partisan issues. You’re welcome to come by and answer our questions. We have many.

For those who can’t make the vigil, I’ve created a petition so they can add their voices of concern. http://tinyurl.com/mrsclintonpetition

Which side are you on Mrs. Clinton?  Are you in favor of gas infrastructure projects invading communities for export overseas? Or will you help us transition to renewable energy ASAP instead? We’re waiting to hear from you!
