Icy Paths at the Rubin Rodeo

Edgar can now walk on top of the ice

I haven’t complained much about taking Edgar, my personal trainer, out for a walk in the cold winter  mornings to do his business. Thanks to the Wovel, there is a great walkway around the perimeter of the yard. Dare I say, its actually be nice to take a walk at all hours around the snow covered yard.

This week, my snow covered back yard took a turn for the worse. We got a 1/2 inch layer of ice which has made walking the dog much more challenging. Edgar has no problems running along on the ice. Four legs definitely beats two for balance and traction when your back yard has become an ice rink.

My new groovy Yak Trax!

After a short bit of internet research, I stumbled upon the answer. Yak Trax are a removeable rubber contraption that you attach to your boots that contain hundreds of metal coils. These coils grab ice and packed snow giving you incredible traction.

My Yak Trax showed up today in the mail. I nearly broke my neck getting to the mailbox, my driveway is now a glacier! I choose the glow in the dark neon green color, but you can get ones that are not as wild as mine. Yak Trax are another tool that will make what’s left of winter more bearable. Check ’em out!
