When I was growing up, our family would take a 10 day vacation every summer to visit dad’s side of the family in Chicago. It was a 2 day drive, and at times, it sure seemed longer than that while sitting in the back seat of our 1962 Ford Station Wagon. No AC or fancy stereo system. Power windows didn’t exist, you had to crank them down! My brother and I amused ourselves by looking out the window and playing road trip bingo or by fighting with one another which drove my parents crazy!
This summer, I’m headed to Chicago for an altogether different reason.
I’ve been accepted into the Climate Reality Leadership training program. The Climate Reality Project is founded and directed by former Vice President Al Gore. This training will help me to become a more effective communicator around the issue of climate change. I’ll be giving numerous public presentations about this topic after I return from the training. If you live in Westchester County or close by in NY, NJ or CT and would like to have me speak, free of charge, about climate, feel free to contact me. I’m especially looking forward to speaking with students of all ages.
I am fundraising to help defer the costs of this journey to Chicago. Unfortunately I do not have the luxury of time to drive the 20+ hours it takes to get from Chappaqua to Chicago. If you click on the page below, it will take you to my GoFundMe site. Any amount, big or small, is greatly appreciated. I look forward to sharing my climate leadership adventure with you upon my return.
