The diet book industry has been a huge money maker since the 1970’s. New diet books seem to pop out every few months. Go to any bookstore and you’ll find the shelves loaded with this winter’s hottest diet orĀ  last fall’s celebrity diet.

These books can overwhelm you with TMI (too much information) as to why their diets work. These books are about them, not you! The writer of whatever diet book you’re reading doesn’t know you, your life, your circumstances.

Do any diet books really work? Yes and no. They might for a short period of time. You could possibly glean some morsel of truth that could help. But the chances of the whole book making a powerful lasting change on your life and your waistline is pretty darn slim. Your best bet is to take them out of the library and use them as light reading instead of investing cold hard cash.

The bottom line? Spend your money on real food instead.
