Gas hit $4 a gallon in my town this week. If that is not enough to get people to change their driving habits, I don’t know what will. Despite the fact that the oil companies are making record profits, I’m hopeful that this may be just what many of us need to wake up and re-think our ways of doing things. When it costs the owners of big beasty SUVs more than $80 bucks for a full tank, it’s got to start having an impact.

Yet, at $4 a gallon, we are still not even close to the top 10 countries with the highest gas prices. I’m betting the folks in these countries don’t take joy rides in big stupid vehicles.
