Resilience is an important concept for all of us to embrace as this winter continues to toss snow balls and icicles in our direction.
Resilience (rē-zil′yəns)
n.
1. The ability to recover quickly from illness, change, or misfortune; buoyancy.
2. The property of a material that enables it to resume its original shape or position after being bent, stretched, or compressed; elasticity.
Another way to look at it would be the Zen saying:
Fall down seven times, get up eight!
When life slams us to the ground, we only lose if we stay there.
Another ridiculous snow storm is headed our way. I spent the afternoon clearing out icicles and shoveling snow banks to make room for tomorrow’s new batch of snow. While the Wovel is still working great, it can only toss snow 5 feet into the air. We’ve already got 5 foot snowbanks all around the driveway so there is no where left for the snow to go! By the end of this winter, I will have arms like Michelle Obama, the Wovel gives your triceps a nice workout without hurting your back.
Indoors, I put a chicken into my slow cooker along with 20 cloves of garlic. It is insanely easy to cook a delicious chicken in the slow cooker. There are many ways to do it. It all depends on what you have handy.
All I did was put a stalk of celery and a sliced onion into the cooker. I had some leftover fresh thyme, so I added that too.
After rinsing my bird, I used a whole chicken, I loaded the cavity with a sliced lemon, and some cloves of garlic. I squeezed the bird into the pot, tossed some more cloves of garlic and popped the lid on. The house smells great right now.
Remember, spring is only 6 weeks away. A resilient attitude, along with some garlic chicken can overcome any snow and ice storm!
