Many people and countries have their heads in the sand when it comes to climate change.

Mark Twain’s play on words  is a humorous way of saying that some one refuses to see what is obvious to every one else, usually as a way of protecting himself from the pain the truth would cause.

Many of us are in denial when it comes to climate change. Some of us simply don’t want to face facts because they are overwhelming and scary. Others, many of them funded by the Koch brothers  are heavily invested in denial and continuing the status quo. If you’re not familiar with the Koch brothers, check out this piece I wrote a while back about paper towels.

The problem with letting go of denial is that despair often replaces it. This is a natural progression, I’ve had more than my share of despair filled nights in the past few years as I’ve read and learned more about the challenges we face in our future.

Starting Thursday night  September 15th , a 24 event designed to wake people up out of their denial will be launched. The Climate Reality Project is bringing the facts about the climate crisis into the mainstream and engaging the public in conversation about how to solve it. We help citizens around the world discover the truth and take meaningful steps to bring about change.
