NEW FILM QUESTIONS THE REALITY OF NUCLEAR EVACUATION IN WESTCHESTER COUNTY
Filmmakers Andrea Garbarini and Susan Rubin were surprised to discover how unprepared most people are for a possible nuclear emergency and how impractical the current evacuation plan really is. Their goal is to empower as many people in the 10 mile evacuation zone to ask serious questions of their local first responders and community leaders about the plan.

WHAT: The Plan? is a film inspired by the blue and white Indian Point evacuation bus stop signs that are present within the 10 mile radius of the Indian Point nuclear reactors.

WHEN: The Plan? will have it’s first public screening at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s open house Annual Public Meeting about Indian Point’s 2013 safety record on Wednesday, June 4, 6pm

WHERE: The Mansion at Colonial Terrace 119 Oregon Road in Cortlandt Manor, NY.

WHO: This 6 minute movie was co-created by two concerned Westchester County residents, Andrea Garbarini and Susan Rubin. Garbarini & Rubin made the film as students in a course offered at the Jacob Burns Film Center Media Arts Lab in Pleasantville NY. Reel Change for Nonprofits is a course designed to help non profits incorporate video into the advocacy work. They collaborated with the Indian Point Safe Energy Coalition (IPSEC), a coalition of environmental, health and public policy organizations.
